My excellent old WD 640AAKS seems to be entering its dying state.
Last two days it has occasionally disappeared in Windows, and when scanning for errors with WDs diagnostic devices it find bad sectors, however then gets an error when it attempts to fix them.

So I’m now searching for a new drive with the following criteria:.
I have a 128GB SSD for windows, apps and a few games, however it cant keep everything. The HDD doesn’t have to be leading speed though, just fast sufficient that games won’t suffer from it.

I was pleased with the 640AAKS, so anything on the exact same level as that is acceptable! Because the drive is not just for storage, the look for noise of course matter a fantastic offer.

3) Reliability. Undoubtedly vital. I’m a bit frightened far from Seagate due to it formerly having a bad credibility here. I guess all drives can fall short. And my own WD is naturally an example of that, even if it is good enough to be failing so gradually that I can back it up:).

Size is not extremely essential. 1TB is completely great. More is great too obviously, but the above 3 areas are each much more crucial.
Dependability) Acoustics) Speed ))) Size.

I have been reading the more current evaluations on SPCR, reading the online forums and reviewing up on hard disk drives in other places. Everybody are naturally so concentrated on SSD nowadays that it feels much tougher to find dependable info about HDDs though.
Which is why I’m going to ask for some feedback here.

I have been looking at.
Hitachi 7k1000 – Appears very excellent. Reviewing on various other sites it seems like the Hitachi drives in general can have quite slow look for times however, which can easily have more impact on speed than the RPM and plate size.
Hitachi 7k3000 – Appears a bit more noisy, and great deals of vibrations once more naturally.
Hitachi 5k3000 – Perhaps not quick enough as a games HDD.
WD Eggs Black – different sizes and modifications – They seem very noisy in basic (being some of the fastest HDDs after all).
Seagate Barracuda 3TB – Got a beautiful testimonial here, but it is Seagate. Makings me doubtful.
WD Environment-friendly & Blue – Excellent acoustics I believe, however green still got the “head parking concern”? And also a little slower than the others of course.

Since the drive is not just for storage, the look for sound of course matter a fantastic deal.

And my own WD is of course an example of that, even if it is good enough to be failing so slowly that I can back it up:).

More is fine too of course, however the above 3 areas are each much more crucial.
